Blasting
SPEC Corrosion Protection (Pty) Ltd offers abrasive blasting services at our factory premises. Our impressive 15m long x 8m wide x 6m high blasting booth adheres to all the applicable environmental (NEMA Aqua Act) and safety standards.
Services include:
1. We offer wet or dry abrasive blast cleaning to all ISO standards using various blast media types:
- Platinum Slag (Blastrite)
- Aluminium Oxide (On Request)
- Plastic Beads (On Request)
- Garnet (Microblast)
- Sodium Bicarbonate (Sodabrade) (On Request)
2. Besides abrasive blasting, SPEC also offers the following surface preparation methods:
- Degreasing and neutralizing
- Steam cleaning
- High pressure washing
- Pickling and passivation
- Needle descaling
- Power tool cleaning such as grinding
Control testing undertaken:
- Climatic (Temperature, Relative Humidity & Dewpoint)
- Surface Profile (Electronic Profile Gauge, Testex Tape)
- Cleanliness (Pressure-Sensitive Tape)
- Salt Contamination (Weber Reilly, Wattman)
- Testing for oil or grease contamination on steel (Water Break Free Test)
